Janet Cohen holds bachelor degrees in Science and Law from Monash University and Masters degrees in Business Management and Law from the University of Melbourne. She worked as a commercial lawyer and then extensively in the regulation of the legal profession. She has a keen interest in ethics and governance. From June 2013 - March 2016 she was a member of the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria. From 2016 - June 2019 she was a member of the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria Hearings Panel. In August 2014 she commenced work as a sessional lecturer in the University of Canberra, Bachelor of Justice Studies course offered at Holmesglen Melbourne. She was a Director of the Board of the Consumer Policy Research Centre (formerly Consumer Utilities Advocacy Centre) from 2014 - 2017. Since 2015 she has been a sessional lecturer at Holmesglen, teaching in the Bachelor of Sports Media and Bachelor of Sport Business courses. She also acts as Practice Manager of a general medical practice.
