From Saturday 27 May until Saturday 3 June is National Reconciliation Week, and we want to encourage all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation.

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June as they commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

This year, the NRW theme is Be a Voice for Generations. It is a call to action that encourages everyone to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and socialise. We encourage all Australians to use their power, their words and their vote to create a better, more just Australia for all of us.

In and around this week, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL) will be hosting several events as well as encouraging you to find ways to acknowledge your division's commitment to Reconciliation and take part in NRW activities within your local community, which you can find via the Reconciliation Australia's NRW Calendar .

Our Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan has committed that all BSL staff will participate in at least two NRW events and local Aboriginal events and networks.

You will receive more information about the BSL events shortly, but in the meantime learn more about the NRW theme here and discover how we can all have a voice.
