This year’s NAIDOC Week theme, ‘50 Years of Deadly’, recognises half a century of celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements each July.

In Australia, we are lucky to live on lands cared for by First Nations people for more than 65,000 years. These lands and waterways are home to some of the richest and oldest continuous cultures in the world.

There truly is so much to celebrate; learn and connect with, and NAIDOC Week is an invaluable opportunity to do so.

BSL staff and volunteers will be participating in NAIDOC Week activities and events, including the annual march on Friday, 10 July in Naarm/Melbourne.

BSL’s Cultural Protocols Document has tips on how to connect with Country as well as other great learning resources anyone can use.

BSL acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waterways on which our organisation operates and pays respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present.

We commit to actively listening and working alongside First Nations people to support reconiciliation through our sphere of influence.

We recognise the importance of ensuring First Nations voices are at the forefront of our actions.
