Congratulations from us at the Brotherhood of St Laurence to the winners of the inaugural Northern Multicultural Small Business Awards.

The awards are a partnership between the Brotherhood of St Laurence, the City of Whittlesea and Small Chilli Marketing , and were held as part of the Small Business Festival Victoria. They celebrate the contributions of multicultural small business owners including those from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds in Melbourne’s north. Brotherhood Senior Manager, Refugees, Immigration and Multiculturalism Hutch Hussein says the inaugural awards have been a great success. ‘Through these awards, we aim to actively support cultural diversity, encourage business excellence and innovation and promote social cohesiveness and community harmony. They are a great way to showcase the contribution our multicultural communities make to our society and economy.’ ‘We are delighted that there has been such a great response from the whole community in Melbourne’s north,’ she says. More than 100 people attended a wonderful awards ceremony last week, at the City of Whittlesea in South Morang.
