On 23 July, Brotherhood of St. Laurence held our annual service recognition event, where we celebrated staff and volunteers who have dedicated many years of service to BSL.

We recognised staff and volunteers who had reached milestone anniversaries starting from five years, right up to an extraordinary 30 years.

"Five or 30 years means hundreds of conversations, contributions, acts of kindness, lessons learned, and quiet moments that may have gone unnoticed… but never unvalued." - Dr Trav McLeod, Brotherhood of St. Laurence Executive Director.

This year's event acknowledged 157 remarkable individuals, 117 staff and 40 volunteers who have collectively given 1,160 years of service to our community. The celebration was made even more meaningful by the presence of family members, friends, and colleagues who joined us to honour these contributions.

"You are our organisation, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence. Through what you do each day, wherever you are, you are helping to achieve an organisational goal of an Australia free of poverty." - Stephen Newton AO - Board Chair, Brotherhood of St. Laurence.

The timing of this recognition holds special significance as 2025 marks BSL's 95th anniversary - nearly a century of working towards an Australia free of poverty.

Our staff are at the heart of everything we do. From frontline service delivery to behind the scenes support each person plays a vital role in creating a more just and compassionate society.
