Brotherhood of St. Laurence Statement on Bondi attack
BSL condemns the terrifying acts of violence and antisemitism at Bondi yesterday on the first day of Chanukah.
We are deeply shocked and saddened by this horrific attack. We extend our deepest condolences, love and support to the victims, their families, the Jewish community, first responders and everyone who has been impacted.
BSL unequivocally condemns all forms of violence. Acts of antisemitism, racism, hatred and violence like what happened in Bondi yesterday have no place in Australia.
As we reflect on yesterday’s shocking events, we are reminded that it’s up to all of us to listen with open hearts, support one another, and work together to prevent violence, racism and antisemitism. We have a collective responsibility to build a stronger, more inclusive and cohesive community – one where everyone has a sense of belonging and feels seen, heard and safe.
It’s important we do not let this tragedy divide us. We need to work together to foster unity and bring our community closer together.
