Commended Cross Cultural Consultancy
Our Cross Cultural Consultancy was recently Highly Commended in the Vocational Education and Training category at the Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence.
Since 2021 the consultancy, a Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL) social enterprise, has trained more than 1000 people from across Victoria, empowering them to become 'pockets of safety' for families and communities from migrant and refugee backgrounds. Working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) individuals, the community and service providers, the program:
- Delivers one-to-one and focus-group consultations to help them understand the barriers that exist for those from CALD backgrounds.
- Identifies practice and program issues with practice principles to build capacity, create community engagement strategies and culturally tailor materials.
- Collaborates in a way that builds providers' capacity, knowledge and networks for immediate and future projects.
Hosted at Victoria's Government House, Program Manager, Carolina Valencia Coleman was presented with the award by Victorian Multicultural Commission Chairperson Viv Nguyen and Minister for Multicultural Affairs of Victoria, Ingrid Stitt MLC.
Congratulations to Carolina and the whole Cross Cultural Consultancy team.
