Ms Jane Hodder
Board Chair
Ms Hodder is a Partner at the global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer and concluded a term as Managing Partner of the Melbourne office in 2025. She has been practicing as a lawyer for over 35 years including as a partner at HSF Kramer for over 26 years, where she is a leader in the real estate practice with a focus on large scale developments and social infrastructure (including the provision of social and affordable housing). Before being Managing Partner in Melbourne, Ms Hodder was the global co-partner head of diversity and inclusion and served on the firm’s national and global boards.
Ms Hodder has served on and led Boards across a range of contexts, including in education, business, and the community sector. In that regard she is currently Chair of St Catherine’s Girls School and formerly Chair of the Monash Law School Foundation and a member of an advisory panel to the Dean of the Monash Law School, Deputy Chair of both the Committee for Melbourne and Queen Victoria Market as well as Chair of the Centre for Contemporary Photography.
Ms Hodder is committed to making a significant contribution to the area of social justice and brings a wealth of governance and broader experiences to her role on the BSL Board.
Ms Hodder holds a Batchelor of Arts (Hons) and a Batchelor of Law from Monash University, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors as well as a Williamson fellow and Cranlana fellow. She was also awarded the Monash University Law School Distinguished Alumni Award in 2022.
Ms Hodder was appointed to the BSL Board in October 2025 and became Chair in November 2025. She Chairs the Property Strategy Implementation Committee and Nominations, Governance & People Committee.
