Innovation
At BSL, we provide support to people who experience disadvantage – often deep and entrenched, focusing on key transition points in their lives, when people are at particular risk of poverty, for example in early childhood, young people transitioning to adulthood, or people transitioning in and out of employment.
Our aim is to disrupt the underlying systems and structures in society that perpetuate inequality and disadvantage.
BSL’s unique strength is that it combines its service footprint with extensive research and policy expertise to inform and influence policymakers and partners to make the necessary changes in the way services are designed and delivered.
As an agency on the frontline, we call for the transformation of our services system; for a system that is built on an aspiration to help people thrive. One where services are funded and coordinated to cope with the complex issues that people experiencing disadvantage often face. To address these systemic challenges, BSL has long argued that there is a role for organisations such as ours, which goes beyond delivering government contracts, to leveraging our strong connections within local communities to harness the contribution they can make to help people thrive.
This is how we create change that lasts.

Respect, care and dignity for all older people is the key concern for the Aged Care sector. We know many socially isolated older people live in poverty, are ‘hidden’ from sight and unable to access the home-based care services that enable them to live a life with dignity.
