Introduction
In 2022, as we re-emerge from the coronavirus pandemic, we are acutely aware of underlying inequities in our society and how, in times of crisis, those already experiencing disadvantage and hardship are hit the hardest.
The next decade is critical as Australia seeks to recover from the pandemic, mitigate and adapt to climate change, and address the significant challenges in the human services system. We need to reimagine better systems that build capability and confidence across the life course in the places and situations people experiencing disadvantage find themselves.
As we rebuild, BSL’s commitment to those who experience disadvantage is as critical as it has ever been, to ensure that no one is left behind. And we know from our work that many Australians share our compassion and that there is a great willingness in the community to support those who are doing it tough.
In this 2022 Annual Report, we share our progress as we continue working in new ways to support people experiencing disadvantage, and to bring about lasting change in achieving our vision of an Australia free of poverty.
