This short course will introduce you to using basic functions on a computer. It will help you to use email and social media when looking for work. It will build your confidence in using a computer.

This four day course will provide you with the technological skills you need to apply for work. You will gain practical digital literacy skills that can be applied in the workplace. You will gain an understanding of Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel and best practice in file management including naming and folder structures.

It covers basic Workplace Health and Safety, conflict resolution, time management, digital technology, customer service and general workplace communication.

The stress associated with unbalanced lifestyles is costly on both a personal and professional level. It damages productivity and increases individual health risks. People who have the tools to balance their professional and personal lives are happier, healthier, and more productive.

This course combines workplace visits and classroom based activities to enable the young people to consider and pursue meaningful educational and/or career pathways. The program incorporates visits to employers and other community groups to build knowledge, confidence and an understanding of the local job market.

Responsible service of alcohol (RSA)

Start date: Tuesday 7 March 2017
Course length: Four hours
Location: Fitzroy

RSA training is mandatory in Victoria for licensees and staff selling, offering or serving liquor. Licensees and staff have one month from the date on which they first sell, offer for sale or serve liquor on the licensed premises to complete their RSA certificate. By completing this course you will have met the requirements to work in a licensed premises selling or serving alcohol.

The responsible service of alcohol (RSA) course is delivered face-to-face as this is a requirement of the training that is conducted in Victoria.

Your RSA course includes:

  • Victorian Government (VCGLR) approved RSA certificate
  • all RSA training resources to ensure RSA compliance in Victoria
  • qualified trainer with real industry experience.

 

What you will learn:

  • problems associated with excessive consumption
  • alcohol and the law
  • the question of who is responsible for RSA.
  • facts about alcohol
  • improving the atmosphere of your premises
  • handling difficult customers

Food safety handler’s certificate

Course length: 6.5 hours

If you want to work in the hospitality industry where you are serving food, you will need to have a food handler’s certificate. This nationally accredited course has been designed for people involved in food preparation and provides basic hygiene principles for all food handlers.

The food safety handler certificate covers:

  • correct storage temperatures
  • dealing with danger foods
  • personal hygiene for staff members
  • cleaning food preparation areas
  • prevention measures in the kitchen
  • pest control.

Everyone knows that Melbourne is the coffee capital of the world. This two day course will teach you the basics of how to prepare and serve espresso coffee that will have you up with the best of them with time and practice.

We teach you how to use a coffee machine from scratch. With no prior experience, you will leave the course knowing how to:

  • froth milk
  • make espresso
  • make industry standard coffee so that you can work in a cafe
  • clean and maintain the coffee machine
