Financial foundations: low-income young adults and money
This study will shed light on what is needed to support young adults on low incomes to achieve their financial goals and aspirations.
It focuses on young adults aged 18–24 years and living on low incomes and aims to:
- tease out key financial challenges confronting them
- understand how social and other contextual factors influence their attitudes, behaviours and decisions about money
- identify the financial literacies they need to achieve financial wellbeing
- suggest policy and systemic changes required to improve the economic security and financial wellbeing of young adults.
The research will include mapping and reviewing financial resources and toolkits, and conducting focus groups with young adults.
