Our research and policy work in this area has included:

  • contributing to the Brotherhood submissions to government including the State Schools Funding Review
  • establishing strong links with university partners engaged in teacher training in order to promote skills that enable schools to better cater for the needs of the disadvantaged learners
  • examining complementary, yet alternative, education options for young people

Community attitudes to education in the Colac Otway Shire

Our small study in Colac Otway Shire in western Victoria aimed to explore local assumptions that poorer educational outcomes are related to the ways that communities value or undervalue education.

Project REAL design and evaluation

Missing out on primary school can prevent young people from developing the foundational skills they need to successfully transition to secondary school. the Brotherhood's researchers are contributing to the design and evaluation of Project REAL (Re-engagement in Education and Learning).
