To further its work for an Australia free of poverty the Brotherhood of St Laurence makes submissions to government and independent inquiries on policy issues which affect disadvantaged Australians.

This occasional online series began in 2004 as a joint undertaking of the Brotherhood of St Laurence and the Centre for Public Policy at the University of Melbourne. The working papers provide insights from research presented or in progress at the Brotherhood or at the Centre. In 2013 the Centre for Public Policy became part of the Melbourne School of Government.

Brotherhood Comment, a research newsletter published three or four times a year from 1991 to 2013, provided a periodic overview of current research projects and policy analysis.
