An exciting opportunity exists for a Linkage Coordinator to help empower people with disability.
Summary of program and its objectives
The Brotherhood of St Laurence drives change that promotes a compassionate and fair society where everyone has a sense of belonging. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), administering the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) roll-out is partnering with the Brotherhood of St Laurence to deliver Local Area Coordination (LAC) services in the North East Melbourne, Hume Moreland and Bayside Peninsula areas.
LAC is pivotal in the NDIS, providing planning coordination and capacity building support for people with disability to maximise their choice and control over the services they receive, allowing them to live an ordinary life. This role also supports people with disability to access mainstream services, to help them, their families/carers to develop their network connections, and to increase our community’s capacity to be accessible to people with disability.
Main responsibilities of the role
You could come from a range of professional backgrounds but ideally possess customer service experience and a strong passion for the empowerment of people with disability. You may be working in the disability field currently or are outside of the sector and looking for a new role to challenge you; regardless of your background we welcome an application from you! To meet the selection criteria, candidate will require:
- relevant qualifications in community development or similar field
- ability to develop supportive relationships with people with disability
- demonstrated experience in customer facing environments that support or provide service to the community
- proven experience in leading and coordinating small teams and/or volunteers
- proven strong community development knowledge and experience with the ability to build and maintain effective community partnerships
- ability to work in a highly flexible, dynamic and changing environment with well-developed organisational, time management skills and ability to prioritise, manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
- ability to work autonomously and effectively as part of team to achieve outcomes
- well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships and liaise across all levels both internally, externally and with people from diverse backgrounds
- ability to effectively use, identify and suggest improvements for the use of technology in the workplace
- understanding of and empathy with the values and ideals of the Brotherhood.
- lived experience or awareness of the impact of existing or acquired disability upon individuals, carers and community
- networks within CALD or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Salary will be between $57,866 to $63,748 per annum, plus superannuation (attractive salary packaging provisions are available).
