Scheme for Training and Educating People (STEP)

STEP Inc. Group Training is a member of Group Training Australia, a group of independent, separately incorporated, not-for-profit training organisations.

STEP was established in 1974 and is now auspiced by the Brotherhood of St Laurence.

STEP employs trainees and places them with host employers.

This means:

STEP handles all the paperwork including trainee wages, superannuation, Workcover and government incentive claims.
The host employer receives government financial incentives.
STEP Field Officers organise all training requirements and supports trainees with their industry education.
Field Officers provide on-the-job support to both trainee and employer.

To complement our Apprenticeship/Traineeship system we also run pre-employment courses in a variety of fields including:

Business (Office Administration)
Retail
Dental Assisting
Introduction to Trades & Associated Industry
