Research and library

The Research & Policy Centre team seeks to reduce poverty and inequality, to change the values and attitudes of the Australian community concerning these issues and to work for change.

Drawing on our research and experience of service delivery, we seek changes which will reduce the disadvantage of groups such as older Australians, children and families, job-seekers, Indigenous Australians, refugees and asylum seekers.

Our research into understanding changing patterns of inequality and disadvantage focuses on the experiences of people with very low incomes. Projects are undertaken by our research and policy staff and can involve partnerships with other organisations.

Our library and information service has a collection of some 10,000 books and reports, 220 periodical titles and other files. The  catalogue, accessible via the Internet, includes not only books but also key journal articles and selected web sites. Our experienced library staff respond to reference inquiries.

Many Brotherhood publications are available in print or electronic form.
