Goodbye Graffiti Enterprise
Goodbye Graffiti is a new community based enterprise with a very strong training and occupational health and safety focus that has been made possible by funding from the Victorian and Australian governments. The program will commence in Laverton in late January 2010 and will be extended to the south eastern traffic corridor of Melbourne in 2011-2012. The program aims to maximize local employment and training opportunities for disadvantaged community members in both Laverton and the south-east corridor. The enterprise will offer training and employment opportunities to local residents seeking to re-enter the workforce and will provide a pathway into mainstream employment
Main responsibilities will be:
Assist Program Manager in the implementation of the agreed business plan
Assist Program Manager in establishing the enterprise in Laverton
Assist with recruitment and training and “Hands On” management of trainees for work team # 1 and Team Leader/s and Trainees for additional work teams.
Development and implementation of monthly and annual work plans
Maintain key information systems for the enterprise.
Assist with the business development and financial management of the enterprise
Assist with marketing and communications for the enterprise
The ideal applicant will have:

The role of the Policy and Program Development Officer is to resource and enhance the

Main responsibilities of the role:

The Social Inclusion Program is a service developed by Brotherhood of St. Laurence to reduce older people and people with disabilities social isolation and loneliness.
The program develops community based recreation and leisure activities and events for Brotherhood clients and family carers to join. The aim is to increase people’s mental health and well-being through their participation in social events and activities. The program has a strong focus on increasing people’s friendships and connections by creating groups to help people come together to share their passions and personal interests. Health promotion has a strong emphasis in the activities we provide, Brotherhood facilitates groups such as water aerobics, strength training classes and walking groups for physical activity; community kitchens and meal preparation programs for nutrition; and creative art groups, Men’s Sheds, Women Support Groups and monthly luncheons for mental health and wellbeing.
Brotherhood is seeking a dynamic person with strong event management and administration skills, who enjoys working in a fast paced office environment and has an eye for detail. The person needs to be able to work alongside volunteers, as many of them are Brotherhood clients. The person needs to have excellent Microsoft office skills, particularly in Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and Publisher and have ability to be multi-task.
This is a permanent full-time position. The salary for this position will be $41,892.98 (based on the HAS Award, Clerical Services, Skill Group 11, Year 1). Salary packaging is available. The successful applicant will be required to undergo a standard Police Check.

The BSL is currently focusing advocacy and action on the creation of more full-time jobs, affordable housing, welfare reform and justice for refugees, and reinvigorating communities through enterprise projects.
Aged and Community Care is one of six Divisions of the Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL), and has responsibility for a broad range of quality services including Residential Aged Care Facilities, Independent Living accommodation, home based care programs, respite services and day centres. These services are provided from a variety of locations and cover areas such as inner Melbourne, northern and southern suburbs, including the Mornington Peninsula
This role will provide management and leadership for BSL Residential Programs and to ensure all residential aged care programs meet all BSL and legislative requirements and operate in a framework of staff and resident empowerment and continuous improvement with an emphasis on advocacy and evidence based practice.
This role will manage the process of major project development from concept to design and implementation, ensuring timelines and quality standards are achieved.
The ideal applicant will have:
•Capacity to manage strategically in a service delivery, social policy and advocacy environment.
•Significant experience at the management level in the delivery of services to frail older people and people with disabilities.
•Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practice of aged services provision, particularly in the field of frail aged, dementia and disability and an understanding of the social and health issues affecting disadvantaged older people and those with a disability.
•Demonstrated high level of communication, negotiation, co-ordination, analytical and conceptual skills.
•A demonstrated understanding and practice of the principles of person centred care
•A demonstrated understanding of the issues of Social Inclusion
•Sound financial management experience

•carrying out quality control and ensuring that all publications are consistent with the BSL style guide
•contributing to the maintenance of content on the BSL website using the content management system.

•tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent industry experience in communications, publishing, editing or media
•excellent project management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple projects and to work to tight deadlines
•strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with knowledge of standard proofreading marks
