Building Bridges

An female employer with two Given the Chance participants, one female and one male

 About program

Building Bridges is a training resource for employers of refugees participating in our Given the Chance program. It gives managers, mentors and buddies the skills they need to successfully integrate refugees into their workplace.

Through many years of placing refugees into work we have found that awareness of the standards of work required is sometimes less than that of non-refugee workers. Also, some employers can have little understanding about cultural difference in the workplace and the effects of refugee experiences. Building Bridges gives employers the right tools and strategies to overcome these difficulties.

The program has successfully trained staff to work with refugees in organisations such as ANZ Banking Group, IOOF and Crown Casino.

Who is eligible?

Employers are eligible for Building Bridges if they have an employee in a Given the Chance work placement.
