About the centre
Our Banksia Community Respite Centre in Frankston provides day, evening and overnight care for people with dementia or a disability, to enable their carers to take a break.
The Centre is a home away from home, offering a safe, supportive environment and an activities program that promotes friendship and learning. We tailor respite plans to suit individual needs, and update them as needs change.
For carers we provide recreational activities, social events, resource materials and referral networks.
The Banksia Community Respite Centre is part of our Integrated Community Care and Respite Services Centre in Frankston.
Who is eligible?
A person may be eligible for the Banksia Community Respite Centre if:
- they are a frail older person (65 years and over, or 50 years and over for Indigenous Australians) OR a person with dementia or memory loss OR the carer of a frail older person or person with dementia
- they live in the cities of Frankston, Casey or Kingston, or in the Mornington Peninsula Shire.
Features
The Banksia Community Respite Centre offers:
- stimulating recreational activities
- evening respite care four days a week
- overnight respite care four days a week, including private room with ensuite
- weekend respite in a home-like setting
- a secured environment
- in-home respite care
- host home respite care
- Banksia Carers’ Group.
