Residential aged care

A Sumner House resident receiving attention from the facility's favourite pet dog

The Brotherhood provides accommodation for older people experiencing financial disadvantage or social isolation, including those with special needs.

We operate two residential facilities in Melbourne. Sambell Lodge provides low care and Sumner House provides high and low care.

Both facilities offer a warm, homely environment that promotes wellbeing, independence and safety. Qualified personal care workers consult with clients, their families and friends to make sure physical, emotional and spiritual needs are met. Respect for personal choice in all aspects of life is a key part of this.

Our residential facilities are supported by dementia care and clinical care consultants.

Sambell Lodge

Sambell Lodge in Clifton Hill provides low-care accommodation for 43 older people, with a focus on special needs. With attractive garden settings and Darling Gardens opposite, residents can enjoy a tranquil environment while participating in the vibrant community life of the inner-city.

Sumner House

Located in Fitzroy, Sumner House caters for 42 residents with low and high-care needs. Staff at Sumner support residents as they maintain their independence and lifestyle choices, and contribute to the wider community.
