Clinical care
All Brotherhood aged and community care services are supported by a Clinical Care Consultant.
The consultant’s role is to provide expertise in the areas of clinical care and clinical governance, ensuring that best practice is followed at all times.
To make sure clients receive the highest possible standard of care, the Clinical Care Consultant supports Brotherhood staff with expertise and guidance in areas such as falls prevention, wound management, general mobility and complex nursing care needs.
The Clinical Care Consultant offers:
- expert advice and support to people living with high or complex needs and their carers
- information and guidance to Brotherhood staff in relation to all aspects of high and complex care needs
- resource materials, such as assessment tools and behaviour management tools, and assistance in developing further resources and documentation to manage clients with high or complex needs
- secondary consultancy to Brotherhood care managers in relation to high and complex clinical needs, including expert advice, coordination of referrals to other professionals, and specialist training where required
- ongoing monitoring and reviewing of clinical care practices and clinical governance issues, including those relating to medication management, training requirements for personal care attendants, and allocation of tasks to appropriate staff
- implementation of standardised systems and practices to ensure the highest possible standard of care.
