Work and learning
While some key Australian industries are experiencing the impact of skill shortages, ironically, many jobseekers are finding it difficult to break into the world of work. The Brotherhood’s Work and Learning programs bring these groups together, offering a suite of support and training services to our jobseekers and to our partner employers we match them to.
Coordination of our Work and Learning programs is based at our flagship Centre for Work and Learning in inner Melbourne, and includes the following support services:
- Jobseeker Services offers intensive personal support and case management to Brotherhood jobseeker clients, with a particular focus on public housing tenants, long-term unemployed and those facing significant barriers to workforce participation
- Training Services delivers customised training, to give our jobseekers the skills they need to get a job and keep it. We also offer tailored training to specific employers to prepare them for our jobseekers.
- Employer Services works with partner employers, offering tailored recruitment assistance and matching them specifically with prepared jobseekers who are now ready for employment.
Other Brotherhood Work and Learning programs also include our Social Enterprises, which are run specifically as a vehicle for giving jobseekers a chance at employment.
Ongoing Work and Learning research allows us to evaluate a variety of labour market programs, so we can best advocate for streamlined services, reduced red tape and better employment and training assistance.
