About the program

Developed by ANZ, MoneyMinded is an adult financial education program designed to help people make informed decisions about their money. The program can build confidence and enable participants to have more control over their finances.

MoneyMinded transforms ‘finance’ from something complicated and overwhelming into a tool that is understandable and manageable. The program offers a toolkit of 19 workshops ranging from basic budgeting, goal setting and saving, to more complex issues such as dealing with debt and consumer rights and responsibilities. Facilitators and participants can pick and choose workshops most relevant to an individual's or group's particular needs and interests.

MoneyMinded was developed following the ANZ Survey of Adult Financial Literacy in Australia (May 2003), which identified a strong link between socioeconomic status and financial capability levels.

Who can participate?

MoneyMinded is a resource for financial counsellors and community educators. It can be delivered as workshops to groups of people or used in one-to-one casework.  MoneyMinded can also be delivered directly to community groups.

Features

The Brotherhood is currently offering two streams of training for community workers:

Facilitator training (‘Train the trainer’)

Facilitator training is designed for community workers interested in using the MoneyMinded resource with their clients. This comprehensive three-day training course is required for those wishing to facilitate MoneyMinded sessions, and provides the skills needed to run interactive sessions on a broad range of financial topics. Facilitator training is run on alternate months in Fitzroy and Frankston and is free to community workers.

Professional development days

Professional development training has been designed for community workers and organisations that do not wish to facilitate MoneyMinded group education but want to increase their financial knowledge and consequently their capacity to support clients. Drawn from the MoneyMinded resource, sessions for the one-day training course include: Money Matters, Dealing with Debt and Strengthening Support. This course is delivered by arrangement.

Contact us for more information about attending the facilitator training or running a professional development training day at your organisation.
