Announcement: Sale of the Modstyle Business

For the past decade the Brotherhood has owned and operated the Modstyle business which wholesales
spectacle frames. During that time Modstyle has generated significant surpluses that have supported our general charitable purposes.

However, the Australian market for spectacle frames has changed dramatically and as a result the Brotherhood decided that it was the right time to exit the Modstyle business. The sale of the Modstyle business has taken place, with the handover to the new owners commencing July 29 2011.

The new owners, the De Grandi Group, plan to continue business under the Modstyle name, but in a revitalised manner. They will take on the full range of Modstyle brands including the very successful Building Better Lives stands.

The new owners are currently undertaking a review to consider current and future staff requirements, with the view of filling any gaps in their structure with existing Modstyle staff. 

The De Grandi Group is a third generation company established in 1929. Originally a cycle and sport goods retail business, the company has grown and diversified over the years to include becoming the Australian and New Zealand distributor for various leading brands in the cycling industry. They now also include a school supply division that boasts an extensive range of products and services including installation of outdoor equipment and indoor gymnasium products and an optical eyewear business (based in NZ).

The Brotherhood will continue to work with the De Grandi group under a licence agreement and the promotion of the Building Better Lives initiatives.
