Donate goods

Ladies ensembles for sale at a BSL community store.

*Please note that we are only able to collect donations from the Melbourne metropolitan area as described below.*

The Brotherhood’s 21 community stores in Melbourne, Geelong and on the Mornington Peninsula sell new and second-hand donated goods at affordable prices. Our hunter gatherer stores sell hand-picked vintage clothing donated by supporters.

These shops help us reach out to local communities, offering clothing, furniture, white goods and other household essentials at low prices. They also raise funds for our work towards an Australia free of poverty.

If you would like to receive our quarterly donor newsletter and learn more about helping the Brotherhood, please subscribe to Building Better Lives.

Goods donated by the public

We are always grateful to receive unwanted items in good condition to sell in our stores in Victoria. These items include quality clothing, furniture, white goods, household items and bric-a-brac. Our fridges program reconditions donated fridges to make them more energy- and cost-efficient.

Direct-to-shop donations

Our stores are happy to receive direct donations during trading hours. So after clearing out your cupboards and wardrobe, why not take your unwanted items to your local Brotherhood op shop?

Furniture and white goods pick-ups

We can collect furniture and white goods in Melbourne metropolitan area and up to the Mt Eliza area of the Mornington Peninsula. Please phone 1300 DONATE (1300 366 283) to arrange an inspection and home pick-up.

Goods donated by companies

If your business has customer returns, samples or end-of-line stock taking up valuable space, please consider donating the goods to the Brotherhood. We are also always happy to receive second-hand office equipment and supplies such as stationery and furniture.

Every summer and winter the Brotherhood runs a Corporate Clothing Appeal throughout metropolitan Melbourne. We place bins-on-wheels in the workplaces of participating companies for employees to deposit unwanted, good quality business and casual clothing.

If you would like to arrange for collection of donated goods, please phone 1300 DONATE (1300 366 283).

Fridges wanted!

Our fridges program gives donated fridges a new lease of life by making them more energy- and cost-efficient. To donate a fridge and arrange collection, please complete the collection form or phone 1300 DONATE (1300 366 283).

Top 5 donation tips
  1. Shoes need a mate, so tie their laces together so they don't separate
  2. So we can make more loot from your suit, tie the sleeve and leg together
  3. As hard as we try we can't sell your old knickers and socks
  4. If the outfit is complete with a belt, make sure to attach it
  5. Wrap breakable items in paper or bubble wrap and mark the box 'fragile'

Please donate direct to your closest Brotherhood community store.
