Parents as Career Transition Supports

About the program

For parents, helping their teenagers work out what to do after secondary school can be a difficult task, especially with a changing job market and new skills required. The Brotherhood’s Parents as Career Transition Supports (PACTS) program equips parents to help their children make informed decisions.

PACTS gives parents information about young people’s options for further education or joining the workforce. The program increases parents’ confidence through three easy-to-understand workshops exploring careers and how parents can help with decision making.

The Brotherhood piloted PACTS in 2003, and now assists other organisations to deliver the program, by providing resources and train-the-trainer workshops. We can also refer parents to their nearest PACTS provider.

For more information about the program, read the 2006 report A positive influence: equipping parents to support young people’s career transitions (PDF file, 179 KB).
