Carer support

A carer sharing a walk and talk with a Brotherhood Community Nexus staff member.

We know how important it is for carers to have time out to pursue their own interests. Sharing experiences, friendship and advice with people who understand is also vital.

The Brotherhood’s day and respite services support carers as much as their loved ones. While their loved ones are enjoying leisure activities and making new friends, carers are offered outings, social events, expert guidance and information sessions, and the chance to discuss their caring role with other carers and staff.

Our day and respite services are offered in Melbourne’s south and on the Mornington Peninsula.

Banksia Carers’ Group

The Banksia Carers’ Group supports carers of people receiving respite care at our Banksia Community Respite Centre in Frankston, and at Banksia Carrum Downs.

Nexus Respite Services

Nexus Community and Respite Disability Services offer two respite services for carers. Respite and Life Options is for older carers of people with a disability, and Individual Respite Options is for carers of people over 25 years of age with a disability.

Connected Carers

Connected Carers is a phone conversation group that hooks up regularly to talk about issues related to caring.
