Atherton Gardens Family and Children's Community Hub
Expected to open in 2013, the Atherton Gardens Family and Children's Community Hub will deliver a range of universal and targeted services that focus on the health and wellbeing of children, families and the broader community.
A partnership between the Brotherhood of St Laurence, Broadmeadows UnitingCare and the City of Yarra, with support from state and federal governments, the hub will be located in the Atherton Gardens estate in Fitzroy. It will be a demonstration model of integrated service delivery, contributing to improved outcomes for children and families, and the sector more broadly.
The hub will include:
- a 117-place early learning and childcare centre, offering long day care, preschool and occasional care
- a dedicated space for playgroups
- family support services
- maternal and child health services
- consulting rooms for visiting paediatric specialists
- early childhood intervention services
- The following Brotherhood programs:
It will also link with employment and training initiatives including the Botherhood's Centre for Work and Learning: Yarra.
The development of the Atherton Gardens Family and Children's Community Hub was announced on the 25 June 2010. See the media release.
The Brotherhood of St Laurence and our community partners look forward to a process of strong community engagement in the development and operation of the hub over the coming years.
