Salaries

We have two Certified Agreements which cover all staff with the exception of the Executive. These are the result of negotiations with a number of unions and staff representatives and provide for regular salary movements and a wide variety of ‘best practice’ flexible working conditions.
In addition, working for a registered charity, Brotherhood staff have the opportunity to salary package a range of personal expenses pre-tax to reduce taxation and increase take-home pay.

Executive Assistant to the General Manager – Research and Policy Centre
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to take on the role of Executive Assistant to the General Manager – Research and Policy Centre with experience in a similar role of providing high level executive support. A background of work in a research and policy setting would be an advantage. The Centre works in close partnership with the University of Melbourne and an understanding of research and policy in a tertiary educational setting would be an asset.
The Research and Policy Centre is a national leader in applied welfare research with a research staff of 24. It produces highest quality research which is embedded in the services experience of the organisation and assists the influencing functions of the Brotherhood of St Laurence.
The role provides executive assistance to the GM, Professor Paul Smyth; undertakes key office management and administration functions; and has an important role in research events management.
Based in Fitzroy, this is a Permanent Full Time position. Salary will be between $50750 - $55825 per annum, pro rata. Salary packaging is available.

Cook
LOCATION: Frankston
HOURS: 31 hours per fortnight
Banksia Services provides a range of practical and social support to older people and people with disabilities who are isolated in the community. Support is also provided to carers who are caring for somebody with dementia and/or are frail aged. The Banksia Community Respite Centre requires a cook to prepare meals for up to 20 people per day as well as prepare light evening meals for clients staying for overnight care.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated and ideally have previous experience as a cook and a Food Safety Supervisor in an aged care facility. The ability and desire to be innovative in their approach to their duties will also be highly regarded. This person will also be required to cover shifts for Carrum Downs if required.
The position is permanent part time and the shifts are:
• Tuesday 8.30am to 2.30pm (5.50 hours)
• Wednesday 8.30am to 2.00pm (5.00 hours)
• Friday 8.30am to 1.30pm (5.00 hours)
Salary in accordance with HAS Award skill Group 8 ($40,475.73 - $41,856.78)

The Brotherhood of St Laurence is seeking to employ a childcare worker, on a casual basis, to provide care and education for children whose parents attend fortnightly HIPPY parent group meetings in the Flemington and North Melbourne areas.

Children Youth and Families is one of three service divisions within at the Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL). The division of Children, Youth and Families exists to engage with individual and communities to empower them and build their capacity through providing services, advocacy and community regeneration. Programs for children and families are based at the Napier Street Child and Family Resource Centre in Fitzroy, in the Craigieburn Centre and in the Ecumenical Migration Centre (EMC). Programs for young people are offered at Napier St, EMC, the Frankston High St Centre and Caroline Springs.
The role:
The Personal Assistant to General Manager, Children, Youth and Families position exists to work closely with the General Manager, in managing the business of a large and complex division in the BSL to achieve the BSL’s strategic objectives. This includes skilled and thoughtful application of a range of administration systems and tools, managing, maintaining and creating positive relationships with senior managers, centre managers and their managers and staff, and external stakeholders, on behalf of the General Manager, Children, Youth and Families.
The ideal applicant:
To be successful in this role you will have prior experience working with senior management, be skilled in developing and maintaining important relationships, be able to lead by example and foster a co-operative culture in this client focused division.
This is a role which involves a high degree of confidentiality and discretion and you will need the ability to be forward thinking and proactive.
Salary will be between $51,000- $56,000 pro rata per annum, based at the Brotherhood’s head office, 67 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. In addition, under PBI status, employees can salary sacrifice up to $16,050. The BSL also permits staff to salary sacrifice an additional $5,200 toward meals and entertainment.
